Lunch with dl_greenarrow

Chloe was typing away on her desk. She had been doing so much work for the Watchtower that she was barely caught up with Planet work. She had had a deadline the previous day and now she was trying to do as much research for her next article as she could because she knew the second she was out of the Planet, her attention would be focused on something else entirely.

He shrugged a little. "It's a public place. I'm sure people take pictures all the time," he teased, not really thinking about it.

Chloe raised her eyebrows and shrugged a little finally pulling back and leaning against her seat, if he wasn't worried about it, she didn't want to make him worry, "I guess you're right." She smiled softly at him.

He smiled back at her, glancing up when the waitress returned to the table with their milkshakes.

"I put extra whipped cream in yours. I read you like whipped cream." She beamed.

Oliver smiled politely. "That was thoughtful. Thank you." He looked back at Chloe and raised his eyebrows a little.

Before she knew what she was doing, Chloe was rolling her eyes, sure, she couldn't blame the girl, but it didn't mean she was overly impressed with her behavior.

She would have thanked her, but she just looked from Oliver up to the girl with raised eyebrows.

Oliver cleared his throat, then picked up the milkshake and took a drink, looking at Chloe. "You're right. This is great."

Obviously put off by the lack of attention his was paying her, the brunette waitress frowned. "Your order will be up shortly." She headed away.

"Is she gone?" he whispered.

This time Chloe did thank her, but she was pretty sure the girl hadn't heard her, "yeah, do you wanna ask her to make it a to go order and we can eat somewhere else?"

He shook his head a little. "No. We can stay here. Maybe she got the picture this time." He smiled faintly and picked up his milkshake. "This is really good."

Chloe held her breath for a second then released it slowly, she smiled softly and nodded, "I'm glad you like it, at least some of it is good." She rolled her eyes a little then smiled apologetically.

"No. The company's good, too." He grinned at her. "And if the burger and fries are half as good as this milkshake, you're getting a pay raise."

Chloe smiled a little and shook her head, "I would never accept a pay raise for taking you to one of my favorite places to eat, Oliver."

She felt bad every time Oliver mentioned buying her something, she knew it was something he did to be nice, but she didn't want him to think she wanted any of those things in exchange for her friendship.

He gazed at her for a moment. "I know you wouldn't," he admitted with a small smile. "That alone sets you into a class all your own, Sidekick." His brown eyes were filled with warmth.

Chloe watches him for a moment and smiled a little, she reached out and patted his hand before pulling her hand back, "I'm glad you know."

Oliver smiled back at her, then looked up when the waitress set their plates down wordlessly and headed away without so much as looking at him again. He raised an eyebrow. "Well, it definitely smells good."

She looked over at the waitress as she left and sighed, "I hope she didn't do anything to it." Chloe picked up a fry and chewed on it, smiling at him, "tastes normal."

Oliver grimaced. "Sorry, Chloe. Maybe we should stick to take-out or delivery. Less drama involved." He reached out and popped a fry into his mouth, as well.

She paused and raised her eyebrows at him, "I don't mind, if it doesn't bother you, it's not me she's trying to hit on." She smiled, a little more this time, she didn't want him to feel bad because of her, she liked hanging out with him regardless.

"Yeah, well that's her loss." He smirked at her, popping another fry into his mouth.

Chloe grinned softly at him and raised her eyebrows, "I have to agree." She picked up her burger but stopped, looking at him, "you try it and give me your verdict."

Nodding, Oliver picked up his own burger and took a bite. He closed his eyes, savoring the taste, then set the burger back on the plate, grinning. "Wow. When you're right, you're right."
