Information with have_no_mercy

At ten AM sharp, Chloe was making her way up the front stairs of the Luthor mansion, a folder clutched tightly in her hand as she waited for someone to open the door. Once a security guard did, she followed him up the familiar main stairs and took a deep breath.

She had tried to go around this every way she could think of, she had tried to get all the answers herself and to find Oliver on her own, but the second she saw Amanda Waller in one of the videos for the facility Oliver was abducted in from a couple of months back, she knew Checkmate was involved and she knew that no matter how hard she tried, she probably wouldn't find much, at least not without wasting a lot of time, which meant, Tess was the fastest way for her to get to Oliver.

And she was done wasting time.

She's just trying to be cautious, especially because she now has a pretty good idea of what kind of people are behind this.

With a deep breath, she sets the folder she was carrying on the desk but doesn't slide it over to Tess just yet, "Ollie is missing."

Missing?" Tess asks, eyebrow raised. Her gaze falls to the folder, but she makes no move to pick it up. "And you're letting me know because...?"

"Because your friends seem to have him," Chloe opens the folder and pushes it over, inside are images from the camera in Oliver's sunglasses that Chloe cleared up and printed out, mostly of the woman who tortured him, but also of a man who seemed to be there when Oliver got captured and if Tess keeps looking through the pile, images of Waller in the same location can be found toward the bottom.

She sorts through the images, carefully guarding her reaction. When she's finished, she looks at Chloe over the images.

"They're not friends of mine anymore."

"I don't care." Chloe says tightly, leaning forward and looking at her, "consider this me cashing in the favor from not letting you and Alice die, I just want all the information you can get me on them, I'll take care of the rest myself."

"Oh, is that all?" But Tess knows how serious this is and she sits back in her chair and sighs. "I'm out, Chloe. Any information I had is going to be useless now." She sets out the picture of Waller from the rest. "I didn't even think she was still alive."

At that, Chloe holds her breath and looks down at the pictures, Tess is pretty much her last hope at this point, "anything, Tess, a name, a location where I can run into one of those people, I tried scanning all of them and all searches are coming up empty. I just need a lead."

She doesn't care if she sounds like she's close to begging because she is. Desperate doesn't even begin to cover it.

"Her name is Amanda Waller, although I'm fairly certain you already know that." She eyes Chloe curiously. "It's a government agency, Chloe, and not to be toyed with. The only reason I'm still alive at this point is because of my... other association." She assumes, anyway.

She takes a deep breath and nods, managing to relax slightly at the face that at least Tess was willing to talk, "okay, well I don't want you to get involved in anything, I just need to know as much as you can tell me."

A pause to pull herself together before she looks at Tess again, "is this Checkmate, then?"

Another sigh, and Tess hesitates before she speaks. "I don't know. Waller's the only one I recognize, but that may not necessarily mean much. I wasn't very high level."

She shifts her gaze away from the picture and from Chloe. "I might be able to find out, though."

Chloe sighs deeply and shakes her head, her expression tight as she tries her best not to let it crumble, "I can't let you put yourself in danger," not now.

She reaches for the folder as she stands up, "thank you for seeing me."

"It's no more danger than I'm already in," Tess replies quietly. "Max will either tell me or he won't. And if he really wants to shoot me again," she shrugs, "he'll do that, too."

With a purse of her lips, Chloe considers for a moment, "I'll come with you, then." It's the least she can do.

She shakes her head. "You wouldn't be helping. If he won't talk to me, there's nothing you could do to change his mine."

"I can't let you risk yourself like that," because if something happens to Tess, Chloe knows Ollie would never forgive her, "he doesn't have to know I'm there, I'll come as back up."

"And do what, let him control your mind the second he figures out you're there?" Tess almost smiles in amusement. "I know what I'm dealing with. You don't."

Chloe sighs and shakes her head, "whatever you think is best." She's too tired to argue, even if she has every intention to keep an eye out, "is there anything I can help with?"

"Just don't do anything stupid." And Tess means it.

"I'm not going to," she means it too, "I just need to bring him back." And anything that will accomplish that isn't stupid as far as she knows.

"When are you going to see him?"

"I may not actually see him. It depends on how generous he's feeling." Which she won't know until she talk to him, at least. "But I'll contact him as soon as possible."

"Let me know..." Chloe takes a deep breath and holds out the folder, "will you need this?"

"No. You can take them." If Max knows anything, he won't need pictures to spell it out for him.

Nodding slightly, Chloe adjusts the folder in her hands then takes a deep breath, "thank you, Tess." She pauses, "and good luck."

Tess nods back. "You, too. I'll let you know as soon as I find anything."

Chloe nods again and looks at Tess for a moment longer before starting out of the room again. There isn't much she can do except wait, but since she's no good at that, she'll keep herself busy.
