The snow storm was past them and the boys had been working on the new floor, which would be for Lois, most of the day and had wanted to patrol. But Oliver had stayed behind with Chloe and Lois and now they were just waiting for Clark to get back from an emergency call so Lois could finally fill them in on what they needed to know.

Chloe was still nervous about them finding out more about the future, but the fact that this future Lois had come from clearly wasn't exactly the same as theirs did comfort her a little because then maybe, whatever bad that had happened might not happen in their present.

With a deep breath, she shifted on the couch and looked towards the window that Clark had left through, "I wonder how long he will be."

At that, her eyes widened, if she exposed herself in front of everyone, especially Lex, it would only put her and the baby's lives in even more danger, assuming Lex knows about the baby, but of course she wouldn't think about that if Oliver was hurt, "and what happened?"

Lois drew in a breath and blew it out. "He made meteor-infected people famous. A public menace. He painted them all in this terrible light--as killers, things that couldn't be trusted." She raked a hand through her hair. "The country was divided, but in the end that's what won him the election. People were scared and he promised to protect them from the meta-humans. And from vigilantes." She turned her gaze to Clark.

Clark's jaw tightened and he met her gaze, looking at her for a long moment before looking down. That's why he had kept his abilities a secret, because if something like this happened, he wouldn't be able to do what he was doing and people like Chloe would get hurt in the process too.

"We can't let that happen."

With a deep breath, Chloe nodded, looking from Clark to Lois, "Lex has been experimenting with people right now, turning them into meteor mutants, giving them power, my guess is that he is doing that to test his research and eventually, give himself powers."

Oliver's jaw was tense at the revelation. "Or is he making a bunch of monsters to prove his point that meteor infected people are dangerous?" He rose to his feet.

He took a deep breath and rubbed the back of his neck, "maybe I should try talking to him."

Chloe frowned and shook her head, "Lex knows about you, Clark, he is probably going to expect you to go after him once he announces that he's alive."

When Clark said that, her eyes widened and she rose to her feet. "No way, Smallville. Forget it." Her voice was tense as she moved over to him. Her chest tightened at the thought. "Chloe's right. Lex knows your secret, and he knows the one thing that can kill you."

He was surprised both by her reaction and that she knew about the kryptonite too, but did his best to keep his expression neutral, "I can't let this happen, Lois, it's my fault Lex is how he is."

She gave him a 'yeah right' look. "No, Lex is the way he is because he's crazy and homicidal." She put her hands on her hips. "He was obsessed with you, Smallville. And I for one, am not going to let you get yourself killed because you blame yourself for everything."
