(ooc: Chloe made me write this, no particular verse, no particular Clark or Davis, just episodic reaction.)
A thud. Deafening to her ears as the lock fell in place, sealing her choice. She chose to lock herself up with him and as she turned her back on the door, she wasn't sure she would walk out of it again.
The man that faced her from the bottom of the stairs, this creature that had brutally murdered so many people, had asked for her help. According to him, having her around would prevent him from murdering again, but he wasn't the reason she closed that door.
Her life sounded like a small sacrifice, a small price to pay in exchange for Clark's safety. Clark, she knew, could make a difference, could change things, could really protect people and for as long as she could prevent it, nothing would get in the way of his destiny.
Chloe felt the anger dissolve into determination, into purpose as she walked towards Davis. His eyes were watching her intently, it should have made her uncomfortable, she knew what he was, she had seen what he was capable of. Jimmy had told her the truth, if only she had listened, if only she had believed him then, maybe things could be different; but it was too late now.
She had already lost Jimmy, lost her job at the Planet and now she had left her previous life behind to become Watchtower. This was her opportunity to do much more than just guide the boys, this was her chance to protect them, to protect Clark.
Once Chloe reached the bottom of the stairs, Davis didn't step aside, he stood there, still staring at her, and lifted a hand towards her shoulder.
"Chloe, thank you, I know I can-"
"No." Her voice was cold as she lifted a hand to stop him from touching her, and stop him from finishing his sentence. Her face was blank as she stared back at him, "don't thank me, I'm not doing this for you."
Chloe held his gaze for a moment longer before walking past him and towards the dark basement of the Talon. Now that her choice was made, she had to figure out what to do. Her objectives were simple: Protect Clark and kill Davis; now it was only a matter of how.
