Surprise visit with [livejournal.com profile] dl_greenarrow

It was only a couple of days before Christmas and Chloe was packing a bag to take to Smallville, she hadn't heard from Oliver since the weekend, when he had left to go back to Star City.

So when she heard the elevator and went to look at the security camera just to see Oliver himself was in the elevator, she was surprised. She had been expecting him to avoid her and Christmas altogether.

Oliver stepped off the elevator a moment later, carrying a medium sized, flat box covered in silver paper, and a smaller box, also wrapped in silver paper, both boxes donning green bows. Naturally.

He smiled at her. "Hey, Sidekick."

He sighed a little, slightly exasperated. "Chloe, have I ever blown you off? Really?" He gave her a look and shook his head a little. "I'm not invading the Smallville family Christmas get-together. I just came to see you." He knew she must have had a great deal of coffee already, because she didn't normally talk quite that fast.

He glanced up at her, blinking the thoughts and memories away and offered her a smile. "Thought you got lost," he teased.

Oliver grinned. "Well. It is a good color on me." He smirked, then picked up the small box and handed it to her. He watched her intently.

"It's tradition?" He meant for his words to be a joke, but the words fell flat even to his own ears.

The smirk left his face at her words, and his jaw tightened slightly as she got into his personal space. "Nice to know what you think of me, Chloe. But isn't it interesting that you do the exact same thing under slightly different circumstances?" His eyes were narrowed, darker than usual.

"You know what?" He shook his head a little. "It doesn't even matter. It's just me wallowing in my own self-pity. Apparently that's what I do best."

With another deep breath, she watched him for a moment, "let me know if you change your mind." She said quietly but didn't move, it was going to be bad enough to think of him spending Christmas by himself, getting drunk and thinking of his parents, but this whole thing made it that much worse, he didn't even think she cared and she had no idea what could have made him think that way.
