Meeting with [livejournal.com profile] dl_greenarrow, <lj site="livejournal.com" user="thek

The snow storm was past them and the boys had been working on the new floor, which would be for Lois, most of the day and had wanted to patrol. But Oliver had stayed behind with Chloe and Lois and now they were just waiting for Clark to get back from an emergency call so Lois could finally fill them in on what they needed to know.

Chloe was still nervous about them finding out more about the future, but the fact that this future Lois had come from clearly wasn't exactly the same as theirs did comfort her a little because then maybe, whatever bad that had happened might not happen in their present.

With a deep breath, she shifted on the couch and looked towards the window that Clark had left through, "I wonder how long he will be."

Oliver couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her passionate display, though he remained silent. He shot Chloe a look, wondering what exactly had happened between Clark and Lois in the future.

She shook her head. "The way we're going to save the world is as a team. Not as any one person going off on their own half-cocked with a murderous plan--" She shot a look at Oliver, then looked at Clark. "--or trying to be friends with the devil."

Chloe met Oliver's eyes for a second and nodded slightly, their interaction was definitely different, at least on Lois' side, but it didn't seem to bother Clark at all so she figured that was a good thing.

When Lois spoke again, she turned to look at her, the hint of a smile on her lips, it was really good to have Lois back and even better that she was going to help her knock some sense into Oliver and Clark when necessary.

"Lois is right," she agreed, "enough with self-sacrificing heroic acts," she looked between the two men too, "we need to stick together and be smart about this, there is no point in risking ourselves more than we need to."

Finally, she stood up, a hand rubbing her stomach unconsciously as she tried to think, "our main goal right now needs to be stopping Lex from making his public appearance and hopefully his nomination, but we need a backup plan if we can't stop him and the only thing I can think of is backing someone who is running against him."

She turned to her cousin again, her eyes squinting slightly as she tried to think of more options, "who are his opponents and is there anyone we can trust?"

Clark frowned slightly between Chloe and Lois then looked at Oliver, his eyes a little wide as both of them just completely changed the direction of the conversation and back again. He also didn't quite understand why Lois was reacting to him the way she was, but he didn't mind it.

Oliver met Clark's eyes, only with a little less surprise than the younger man. Chloe and Lois were both incredibly stubborn, strong-willed women, and when the two of them were together, that factor only multiplied. it was actually kind of endearing.

"Some senator from Kentucky was the main opponent. I can't remember his name." Lois paused and fixed her eyes on Clark once more, a faint smirk crossing her face. "Although I do know of one United States senator I trust entirely, and who would make one hell of a president."

Her eyes widened a little and Chloe smirked at her cousin, "that's a perfect idea, Mrs. Kent could run against Lex, Ollie will endorse her and Clark doesn't need an excuse to be around her and be her bodyguard 24/7 because he is her son."

Clark frowned at both of them and shook his head, "no." He said firmly.

"I'm not risking her life like that, I can't be with her 24/7 Chloe, and I'm not putting her in the spotlight like that, not against Lex." His father had run against Lex years ago and had won, and he had died the night he was elected. He wouldn't lose his mother too.

"Clark's right. It's too dangerous. Plus considering Lex knows Clark's secret, he'd use that against Mrs. Kent in any campaign she'd run anyway. And if that's the kind of thing that Lex used to win the election, it would only backfire." He offered Lois and Chloe a half-smile. "It's a good starting place, though." He glanced at Clark.

Clark nodded in thanks at Oliver, the thought of putting his mom through something like that had made him very anxious all of the sudden.

"We can look into the other man's background and see if we can go in that direction."

Pursing her lips together, Chloe nodded, her eyes going from Oliver to Clark and then to Lois, "I can start research on him while we think of other options."
