Nightmares with [livejournal.com profile] dl_greenarrow and <lj site="livejournal.com" user

Chloe was late by fifteen minute, she told Ollie she would be back to the clocktower at eight, but Lois caught her just as she was about to leave work and she couldn't exactly pretend not to notice her cousin, she had been getting suspicious by Chloe's evasiveness as it was.

To her surprise, Ollie hadn't called her the second she was late, he had been understandably tense by everything that was going on. As she stepped out of the elevator, she frowned at the darkness, all lights were off in the clocktower, something wasn't right.

"Ollie?" She called carefully, turning the living room light on. No sign of him, her heart started beating faster as she dropped her purse on the floor and started turning every light she could on, looking into each and every room, calling his name.

"Ollie!" Her voice was getting more desperate at every room she looked into, and then, finally, she went to the master bedroom, her stomach turning at what she saw there.

There was a big dark red stain on the sheets, the bedside lamp had been shattered to pieces, and in the middle of the messy bed lay a single piece of paper. Chloe rushed towards it, already dreading the worst.

You shouldn't have betrayed me, Chloe.

She gasped as she read the words, she didn't need a signature to know who the note was from. Davis. Davis had Ollie and he was hurt, bleeding, she had to find him, she had to help him, she only hoped she wasn't too late.

He paused for a moment, thinking about that. "All right. Tell me how to get there," he said with a slight shrug. He supposed learning more about his heritage was probably good. He may need that information one day soon.

She held her breath a little not to sigh in relief when he agreed, nodding, she looked at where they were, "take I-70 south, it's about an hour outside of Metropolis." She didn't want to mention Smallville, she didn't know if Davis would make the connection to Clark or not.

He nodded a little and followed her instructions until they were on the correct road and headed toward the caves. "So how did information about my heritage end up in some old caves?" he asked curiously.

Chloe shifted on her seat, still trying to stop thinking about Ollie, she nodded, focusing on this subject was better than him talking about them.

"Apparently, hundreds of years ago, a kryptonian visited the Earth and the Kawatche tribe learned through him a lot of stories about the Kryptonian culture, they even base some of their own culture on what this Kryptonian told them. They learned, over the years what was to come in the kryptonian future and how other visitors would come to Earth to save us."

"So there are others? Besides me and...Clark?" His smile slipped just a bit, his fingers tightening on the steering wheel.

She noticed the change in his expression and shook her head, "not anymore. Not since Krypton was destroyed, you two are the only survivors."

He relaxed once more, nodding slightly, speeding the car up a little. A little over half hour later, they arrived at the caves she'd been talking about for most of the drive and he put the car into park and climbed out, moving to the passenger side and opening the door for her. He smiled at her. "Show me."

She took his hand and got out of the car, when the monster wasn't in control, Davis was a gentle guy, no one would ever guess he was able to do the things he did. She hoped the plan would work and that they could save him this time.

Leading the way down the caves, it was dark, but there was enough sunlight that they could see enough of the walls closer to the entrance. She just had to keep him away from the secret room.

"Do you see all the drawings on the wall? Some of them are even influenced by kryptonian symbols."

[identity profile] davis-dooms.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Davis followed her inside, his eyes widening a little as he looked at the symbols, quickly growing fascinated by all of it. "Wow," he murmured, reaching up and touching one of the images. He glanced at her, looking slightly amazed. "This is incredible."

Nodding, she unconsciously wrapped her arms around herself. She had his interest, now she only had to keep him here until, hopefully, Clark showed up with the black kryptonite.

"There are some great ones that way," she nodded towards a darker part of the cave, "do you have a flashlight or a cellphone with you, by any chance?"

He nodded a little and pulled his cell phone from his pocket, handing it to her. "Lead the way." He smiled.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded, opening the phone and leading him further into the cave, she stopped after a few steps and turned the phone towards the wall, "this one is supposed to represent you and Clark." She knew he knew who he was supposed to be, hopefully, bringing up the legend wouldn't upset him.

[identity profile] davis-dooms.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Davis stared at it for a long few moments. "I don't want to hurt Clark." His voice was almost inaudible, his eyes locked on the figures drawn on the wall.

Her eyes widened at his admission as she watched his profile, this was Davis, not Doomsday and this was who she had to reach out to, "you don't have to, Davis, I can help you."

"How? I didn't even stay dead, Chloe," he murmured, not looking at her. "I don't want to be a monster, but when I'm not around you, that's exactly what I am. But what if that stops working? What if I hurt you?"
