chloesullivan: (Looking down uncomfortable)

The following day with [livejournal.com profile] dl_greenarrow.

When Chloe woke up, she was in her bed, her memory hazy for a few seconds, it looked kind of dark outside, but it didn't sound like it was early in the morning, the traffic in the distance outside, it sounded more like rush hour than anything else.

She sat up and when she did, her head immediately started pounding and with the pounding came her memories, she remembered the accident and the hospital and then leaving the hospital with Oliver and then...

The clock said it was 6:43, and if the noise outside was anything to go by, it was 6:43PM. She had slept all day, which meant she had slept all day and that meant she had completely missed work.

Chloe groaned and rubbed her head before getting up, she could hear the TV in the living room, so she walked towards it sleepily.

Oliver looked up from where he was sitting on the sofa, his laptop resting on his knees as he worked silently, barely paying attention to the news report that was on. He heard the sound of light foot-fall in the hallway and he glanced up quickly. "Hey. Did I wake you?" he asked uncertainly, picking up the TV remote and turning the TV down a little more, a frown on his face.

She looked from the TV to the to him, rubbing her face a little and shaking her head, "no, I don't think so," she looked around and made a face, "did I sleep all day?"

"Pretty much," he agreed, sensing her mood wasn't good and that that affirmation wouldn't make it any better. Inwardly he shrugged. One day of missing work wouldn't end her career.

With a nod, she turned around and walked to the kitchen, picking up the phone and calling the Planet, she got an answering machine so she left a message to her editor, telling him what happened briefly before hanging up and walking over to the coffee maker, setting it up then starting it before leaning back against the counter to wait.

She didn't like missing work and she knew she wasn't going to get in trouble for it, but the problem was that this all had happened because she had been incredibly stupid and inpatient, if she had just waited a couple more hours, Lex would never have found out about anything and her research would have been safe, by now, everything she found had probably been wiped off of his networks.

He gave her a few minutes, then set aside his laptop and rose to his feet. He headed into the kitchen, pausing in the entrance. "I talked to Clark. He talked to your editor to let her know what's going on." He watched her for a moment.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
She looked at him a little surprised and nodded, "thanks, do you know what he said?" With a deep breath, she willed herself to calm down, this wasn't anyone's fault but her own and Oliver felt bad about the whole thing already, she didn't want him to feel worse.

"Just that you were in a car accident and the doctors advised rest," he told her with a small smile. He looked to the coffee pot, then moved over to it, getting down two mugs.

Chloe nodded, "good to know," she stood up straight and watched him get the coffee.

He poured them each a cup, then pulled out the sugar and cream, handing it to her. "How do you feel?" he asked quietly, studying her as he watched her prepare her coffee. He took a drink of his own.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
She sipped on her coffee before turning to look at him, nodding, "headache, but I'm okay otherwise." She told him, "and I guess I was tired."

He smiled softly. "They sent you home with Vicodin. You should probably take one." Without thinking, he reached out and touched her face, grimacing a little at the bruise on her forehead.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I will..." she made a face and nodded, the look on his face not going unnoticed by her, "I know, it looks ridiculous, at least make up should cover it."

[identity profile] dl-greenarrow.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"No, it just looks painful," he told her quietly, concern in his voice. He dropped his hand to his side once more. "I'll get your pills." He moved past her and into the living room, retrieving the bottle of he'd had delivered from the pharmacy nearby.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Chloe shook her head a little and shook her head, turning to look at him as he walked away, "you picked up my prescription?"

[identity profile] dl-greenarrow.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Had it delivered actually," he explained, holding the bottle out to her.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Taking it, she met his eyes and nodded, "thanks, Oliver, for everything. You really didn't have to do any of this."

[identity profile] dl-greenarrow.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
His eyebrows furrowed a little and he shook his head. "Do any of what?" he asked uncertainly. He didn't really feel like he'd done anything, frankly.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, flying in for starters," she raised her eyebrows at him, "then spending the night with me, driving me home, taking care of my prescription... all of it."

[identity profile] dl-greenarrow.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." He smiled a little and shrugged. "Well, you're my friend, and one of my teammates. Needed to make sure you were all right."

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"And thanks for that too," she nodded with a soft smile and sipped on her coffee, even though she didn't need it, it was nice to hear he was willing to take care of her.

[identity profile] dl-greenarrow.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
He smiled back, gazing at her for a long moment. "You hungry? I could order something in," he offered.

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
After considering for a moment, Chloe nodded, "I could eat something, what do you have in mind?"

[identity profile] dl-greenarrow.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
He thought for a moment. "Well there are a lot of good places that deliver. I could go for pizza or Chinese or even just ordering from the deli down the street. I'm a guy. I'll eat anything." He smirked. "What sounds good?"

[identity profile] chloeas.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Chloe leaned against the counter again, the coffee hadn't really kicked in yet, "pizza sounds good, as long as you don't want anchovies or pineapples in it."

[identity profile] dl-greenarrow.livejournal.com 2009-10-12 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
He made a face. "Even I don't eat anchovies, Sidekick." He smirked. "And I've had enough pineapple to last a lifetime," he said cryptically, moving toward the phone.
