Reaching out to [livejournal.com profile] dl_greenarrow.

Chloe wasn't sure how many hours had gone by since they got back to the Clocktower, the apartment was much lighter now so she knew the sun was up, but she hadn't moved from her position since Oliver laid down on his bed and she wasn't planning on doing so.

She could have sat down on the chair by his bed or even on his bed, but she didn't want to get comfortable and risk falling asleep so she picked a spot on the floor, leaning back against the door frame and watching the bed.

Although she couldn't see him from where she was beyond the covers and the fact that he was obviously under there, this was enough for her. She wanted to be able to give him some space and still keep an eye on him since she absolutely refused to leave him alone even for a second, she wasn't going to risk it, not after what had almost happened.

And every time she thought about that she had a hard time not breaking down, she couldn't stop from thinking what it would be like if she had suddenly woken up to find that his body had been found outside his property.

To say she was freaked out and scared didn't even begin to cover it, but this wasn't about her, this was about him and her doing everything she could to make sure she helped him in every possible way.

"Thanks for...telling me," he said quietly, rising to his feet, and carrying his bowl to the sink. He paused for a moment, resting his hands on the counter. "You should get some rest, too. I promise I won't try to take off if you do."

Chloe took a deep breath and looked up at him, nodding a little then shifting on her seat, "do you mind if I lay down with you?"

Oliver slowly turned to look at her, an uncertain expression on his face. "I guess that'd be all right."

She watched him for a moment then shook her head a little, "if you're not comfortable with it, I understand."

"No. It's fine," he said quietly, watching her for a moment in return.

"Thank you." She told him quietly then stood up.

"Welcome," he said softly, gazing at her a moment longer before turning and heading down the hallway.

She watched him for a moment then glanced at Nellie one more time, making sure she had water before following Oliver to his room, she didn't know if she was going to be able to sleep, but at least if she was in bed with him, she knew for sure she would feel him get up if he did, she always had in the past.

Oliver found a bottle of Tylenol PM in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, opening it and downing three of them quickly before heading to the bed, rubbing his hands over his face. Maybe he could actually sleep if she was beside him.

He forced the thought out of his mind almost as quickly as it came. He wouldn't think that way again. He couldn't.

Chloe stopped by the guest room to change out of her jeans and into a pair of pajama pants, she wanted to at least be able to relax and be as comfortable as possible, she needed to be in a somewhat decent shape if she was going to take care of him.

He had just crawled under the covers when he heard footsteps approaching. He held his breath for a moment, then offered her a faint, barely there smile. "Night," he said quietly.

Chloe looked at him for a moment then got on the side of the bed she usually slept on, "night," she told him, "oh and if you feel something jumping on the bed, it's just Nellie," she told him, "I'll tell her to go to the other room if she shows up."

"You don't have to. Like I said, I don't mind dogs. She's fine if she comes in," he told her, turning onto his side and shutting his eyes.

"Okay."

Her chest tightened painfully when he turned his back to her and she took a deep breath then let it out slowly, willing herself not to take it personally, no matter how hard it was. He had been through a lot and she was determined to help him get better, he had listened to her and he seemed okay enough with her being around and for now, that was going to have to be enough.

At least he was alive and he was there with her, the rest she could work with despite how it felt.
